The Blind Veterans Centre in Llandudno with the Welsh Regiment's Band and Drums.
Monday 21 January 2019
Members of The 1879 Group visited the Blind Veterans Centre at Llandudno.
We gave a brief talk about the Zulu War of 1879, and displayed kit and equipment to the residents and visitors.
The veterans were able to handle the exhibits, and asked many questions about the kit and equipment.
After lunch in "Hogwarts" where we sat and talked to the residents there was a concert staged by The Regimental Band & Corps of Drums of The Royal Welsh. This was a part of the Band's tour of Wales to mark the 140th anniversary of the battles at Rorke's Drift and Isandlwana - 22/23 January 1879.
The Band and the Denbigh and District Male Voice Choir / Cor Meibion Dinbych a'r Cylch held a fund-raising concert in Denbigh Town Hall the previous evening, and as a result Major Denis Burton presented Blind Veterans UK with a cheque for £2337.77.
