James Taylor Service of Dedication at Holy Trinity Church, Trefnant

Members of The 1879 Group attended the Service of Dedication in Memory of Lance-Sergeant James Taylor, 2nd Battalion 24th Regiment of Foot.
Lance-Sergeant Taylor was one of the defenders of Rorke's Drift. He left the Army in 1894 and lived with his family in Manchester before eventually settling in Trefnant.
He died on 15th November 1919 aged 64 years. He was buried with full military honours in Holy Trinity Churchyard. His grave was marked by a simple metal cross which, over the years, was lost.
The service took place at 11:00 at Holy Trinity Church, Trefnant. The headstone was donated, inscribed and erected by Vale of Clwyd Memorials.
